An Immersive, Interactive and Navigable Software Program for Optimizing Crowd Management in Public Health Emergency Situations

Technology

Coronavirus (COVID-19) is a highly infectious disease that has led to a pandemic throughout the world. Since its emergence, over 117 million have become infected, with 2.6 million deaths. Although several highly effective vaccines have become FDA-approved, one of the biggest challenges is administering them to millions of people. Several software platforms have been launched to help governments and medical facilities track and manage vaccine distribution sites; however, many of these solutions are plagued with operational and usability issues and considered inadequate.
The technology herein describes a software program for simulating, managing, and tracking vaccine distribution. It allows the vaccination site to input the number of available vaccines, patients, registrations, and medical history. Each patient is uniquely coded with registration information that tracks the patient for subsequent vaccination. It can perform real-time simulations or accelerated simulations based on time controls input by the user. Also, the software considers social distancing, temperature checks, pre-registered/non-registered, observational periods, and parking. A beta version of the invention has been developed, demonstrating the ability to simulate various vaccine site configurations.

Competitive Advantages
• Maximizes safe and effective distribution of vaccines and expands patient access.
• Predicts timing by taking into account the number of patients, registrations, medical history, social distancing, parking, temperature checks, and post-vaccine observation times.
• Customizable to accommodate various vaccine site layouts.

Opportunity
• The market for COVID-19 vaccination management software was $140 million in 2019 and is expected to exceed $590 million by 2028 at a CAGR of 17%.
• North America dominates 35% of the vaccine management software market.
Rowan University is seeking a partner(s) for further development and potential commercialization of this technology. The inventor is available to collaborate with interested companies.
